Obama is my shepherd...
... I shall not want.

Note regarding links: I consider myself very open-minded. I read a wide variety of websites, many of which contain opinions with which I agree, and many of which contain opinions with which I vehemently disagree - and sometimes both on the same website! The listing below is a mishmash of sites, blogs, articles, etc. which I have found constructive. I have added a short description with each link.

I welcome open-minded discussion of anything I say. There are times when I have not properly worded my thoughts, or perhaps not given enough information to properly explain my point of view. While some of my opinions, such as on abortion issues, are pretty much developed and will not change, others may change with new insight or information. You can contact me at contact@obamaismyshepherd.com. You are also invited to see my blog at danstirling.blogspot.com. Please do not leave any pointless, disparaging comments as I will simply delete them.

Opinion Journal : The opinion section of the Wall Street Journal. Read the 'About Us' section at the lower right if you have never done so. This is my primary source of political/economic information and opinion, and I rarely find anything with which I disagree. I particularly appreciate James Taranto's 'Best of the Web Today', published each weekday.

Newsbusters.org : This is a very conservative site, whose primary purpose, as stated in their header, is to expose media bias. I have found much in their views with which I disagree, but I think they are right on in exposing the hypocrisy of an extremely biased media which continues to define itself as impartial. Well, the left-wing portion of the media - which is most of it.

Hummers & Cigarettes : This is an individual's blog that I discovered recently, and from which I have gotten a lot of good information and stories.

imao is a completely irreverent right-wing blog and store. You will be offended - and hopefully educated too.

John Stossel is a contributor to ABC's 20/20 and other shows. I have found issues on which I disagree, at least in part, but I think that as a person with a voice he has done a great deal to increase our awareness of many of the realities going on around us.

maq0r is the pseudonym of a contributor to Fark, my favorite site for news. This is his personal profile. It is people like maq0r who inspire me to speak out for the things I believe in.

Links below are distinct stories, commentaries etc. that I have found interesting:

Fred Smith: Washington is the Problem - Commentary from the founder of FedEx, October 2008.

Orson Scott Card: Would the Last Honest Reporter Please Turn On the Lights? - Author of 'Ender's Game' discusses hypocrisy in journalism. Posted sometime in 2008.

The Crisis of Credit Visualized - an 11 minute video explaining how we got into this financial mess.

'Father Daughter Talk' - a classic tale in which an idealistic college student realizes she's a Republican after all...

John V. Santore: Obama Isn't Who I Didn't Think He Was. But He Might Be. - a former campaign organizer for Obama writes about his new disillusionment with the president. This was posted February 8, 2009 to the Huffington Post and amazingly is still up.

National Black Republicans: Black Political History Test - do you know your history? I would recommend cross-checking some of the details, but the answers they give appear to be accurate for the most part if not completely.

Newsbusters: Media ignore Caterpillar employees' overwhelming opposition to stimulus - remember in February when Obama visited Caterpillar and said that the stimulus bill would mean no employees get laid off?

YouTube - Rick Santelli's rant - I guess he's had enough financial salvation!

AIG Employee's Resignation Letter - A good reminder of the importance of understanding all points of an argument or discussion.
